About Me

Thanks for dropping by! My name is Jeff (some call me coach) and I’m a long time collegiate tennis coach. I am fortunate to have coached (and been a mentor) for nearly 30 years. For most of that time I have been head men’s coach at Whitman College (my alma matar). Under my guidance, Whitman has become one of the top programs in D3 tennis — we are consistently nationally ranked and in 2018 made the Elite 8 at the NCAAs. Prior to Whitman, I was head men’s and women’s coach at Montana State University – Bozeman (NCAA D1). Before that I was fortunate to be assistant to legendary coach Greg Patton at Boise State University (top 5 in D1).

I am also the founder of one of the top adult tennis campus in the nation – Tennis and Wine Camps. Through these camps I have met many outstanding people, sampled some of the best wine and food in the region, and raised funds for the Whitman tennis programs.

I have a great love of the outdoors and am fortunate to live in an area that provides ample outdoor opportunities. I have enjoyed many a good backpacking trip, exploring, camping in my 13′ scamp trailer, fly fishing on incredible waters, and rafting/kayaking area waterways.

Through the years I have met many incredible people, coached a large number of amazing young men and had numerous travel and outdoor experiences.

So stay awhile — enjoy some stories, learn some of my favorite tennis and conditioning drills/activities, explore leadership ideas, and get some advice for young people (and their parents) as they look to play college tennis.
